ScotlandIS Member Spotlight: ComTech IT

In this Member Spotlight we hear from new member, ComTech IT, on joining ScotlandIS to support our world-first Best Practice Charter for MSPs, and showing young people the fun side of IT.

Who is ComTech IT and what do you do?

  • Web Services: We offer website development and hosting solutions.
  • IT Procurement and Consulting: Assisting with the acquisition of hardware and software (eg Microsoft 365, antivirus and Google licences), along with strategic IT consulting.
  • Cloud Services: Providing cloud backup solutions to safeguard critical data.
Tell us something unique or interesting about your organisation.

We work hard but we also play hard. ComTech HQ has been setup as a giant playhouse for everyone to use when not helping clients.

We offer a very personalised service to all our clients.  All our clients know the team by name rather than just unknown person at the end of the phone.

What is your biggest achievement as an organisation?

We provide work experience for young people in the area partnering with schools and colleges. This allow us to give them “hands on” experience in the industry and show them the fun side of IT.

What prompted you to become a member of ScotlandIS?

ScotlandIS has the charter for best practice for managed service providers, and the more firms that sign up to it the higher the standard of the industry becomes.

What do you see as the main challenges for the tech industry in the UK and Scotland?

Anyone can call themselves an “IT expert” with little to no formal training and experience.  These “experts” then do a job badly which reflects on the whole industry in general and tarnishes the reputation of firms like ours.
